Nettin' the 'reches. Russel Dukes (with beard) and Al Collins, long time friends, drift their gill nets through the long straightaways of the river between bends in search of rockfish. These reaches, or “'reches”, span from the Tuckahoe down to Secretary. Their season ends before the largest rockfish enter the river to spawn in Spring. Since much of the fishing is in cold weather, they have devised a box with propane heater to keep gloves warm and dry.
